FANSHII DANSU
Yohei Shiono is a cheerful university student in his senior year. He belongs to a rock band and sings lead vocal at a live house. However, he was born as the successor to his family temple, and in order to become a Buddhist priest, he must join the training session of a Zen temple in the mountains and leave his girlfriend Masoho.
Yohei and his younger brother face a time of rigorous and severe training. But they soon begin to see another side of life at the temple. The reality is that they do not know what the senior priests are doing behind the scenes. One day, Yohei meets one of his former band colleagues who comes to the temple on a company training program and learns that Masoho is going out with someone else. This causes him to fall into depression. Yet to his surprise, Masoho herself comes to the temple to see him. They try to come to an agreement but are interrupted by the jealous priest Juryu, and Yohei is reprimanded. After a few more incidents that upset the senior priest, Yohei is transferred to a position of taking care of the old head priest, considered a troublesome job. However, the two get along very well.
One year passes. ' The day to see Masoho will soon be here! ' Yohei thinks happily. But without him knowing it, he has been chosen to be the leader of the next training session. He calls Masoho to tell her the news, and she gently but firmly ends their relationship. Although greatly disappointed, he is inspired by the head priest to devote himself to the training, in spite of hindrances by other high priests.
Finally the day of an important ceremony with Yohei taking a prominant part arrives. Several friends from the old days, and even Masoho come to watch. An unexpected event occurs, but the head priest is sanguine, and Yohei will continue another year of training, with Masoho promising to wait for him.
